    No Problem at all
    The phantom had enough power, you wont recognize it during touch and go. It stays with the aircraft for 3 traffic-patterns, then it falls of. Did it myself unintentionally in traffic-pattern practice. F-4 Pilot German Airforce, 3000 hrs in the bird.

    Nothing special. Worked in a F4 squadron and occasionally someone would pop the chute and then go around. The chute is heavily slotted anyway and collapses, more or less, at higher speed.

    saw a number of these when the marines would visit and DACT against our F15s. The 4s would get into a flat spin and have to deploy the chute to recover ..

    Actually he may have been saving the aircraft. If the Phantom took-off without A/B, it would tend to pitch-up and crash. Only 'out' was popping the chute.
